The Divine Contractors Southern Billiards and Snooker Association of Fiji Open tournament is currently underway with 32 players showcasing their skills at the historic Merchants Club in Suva. The tournament kicked off yesterday and will conclude with the finals tomorrow, drawing considerable attention from both fans and participants.
This year, the competition features a remarkable blend of youthful talent and seasoned players, creating an exciting dynamic. SBSAF President David Ratnam expressed his enthusiasm for the impressive lineup, noting the captivating clash between the raw power of emerging players and the strategic finesse of more experienced competitors. Ratnam emphasized the importance of this diversity for the growth of the sport, which not only benefits the players but also enhances the viewing experience for spectators.
The tournament follows a challenging format, incorporating a full set of 15 reds and the “3 Foul and Miss” rule, which promises to maintain a high standard of play throughout the event. Participants are competing for substantial cash prizes, with the winner receiving $400, the runner-up $200, and additional financial rewards being allocated to semi-finalists and quarter-finalists.
