The youth of Korovuli Village in Macuata are making significant strides in leading development projects aimed at enhancing the community and supporting their peers. Committee member Paula Maisiri has highlighted that the success of these initiatives is rooted in collaboration and support, demonstrating that rural poverty can be alleviated when young individuals embrace leadership roles.
Recently, the youth achieved a commendable milestone by constructing a new playground and are now turning their attention to planning a community gym, designed to identify and nurture local talent. “Young people have led all these development projects for the benefit of the village. Last year, we hosted the event at a school, and this year we brought it into the village. We saved money and raised more funds for the project,” Maisiri remarked.
Following the successful construction of public restrooms after last year’s event, further enhancements to the Korovuli grounds are anticipated for the upcoming year. This youth-led initiative not only fosters improvements within Macuata but also paves the way for vital awareness programs on topics such as drug abuse and HIV, empowering the younger generation for a healthier future.
The efforts of the youth in Korovuli Village exemplify the potential of grassroots movements to create meaningful change, showcasing how well-directed youth engagement can transform communities and create lasting benefits for future generations.
