Young residents of Lutu Village in Naitasiri have taken a proactive step towards enhancing healthcare access by constructing a dispensary tailored for their community’s needs. With a population nearing 700, the villagers recognized the urgent requirement for a dedicated health facility and have allocated land specifically for this project.

In a collective effort, community members have banded together to finance the purchase of essential building materials such as timber and cement, showcasing their commitment to improving local healthcare infrastructure. The dispensary aims to provide adequate space for the Zone Nurse to conduct consultations and treat patients during weekly visits, thereby significantly improving access to fundamental healthcare services for the villagers.

The initiative has been met with enthusiasm by the Ministry of Health and Medical Services, which praised it as an inspiring example of rural communities taking charge of their health and well-being through collective efforts. This project not only reflects the determination of the village’s youth but also underscores the potential for rural communities to enhance their own health outcomes, paving the way for a healthier and more self-sufficient future.
