Youth Leaders Unite: Historic Gathering Kicks Off in Fiji

The Youth and Sports Ministry of Fiji is hosting the South Pacific Youth Senior Officials Government Meeting, which has officially commenced today in Suva. Meli Nacuva, the Permanent Secretary, is leading the meeting as chair.

Nacuva welcomed participants warmly and expressed his appreciation to the Secretariat of the Pacific Community (SPC) for their assistance in organizing the event. He stressed the importance of the meeting in tackling the challenges youth in the region face and emphasized the need for collaboration and cooperation to develop solutions.

He also highlighted Fiji’s unique cultural diversity and the renowned hospitality of the country. Nacuva encouraged participants to make the most of their time in Fiji and engage in substantive discussions that would benefit the youth of the region.

Mahoney Mori, Chair of the Pacific Youth Council, noted the historical significance of the meeting, stating that the youth represent the future of the Pacific. He thanked the Fijian Government for their warm, traditional welcome.

In her vote of thanks, Melissa Bule, Vice Chair of the Pacific Youth Council, expressed her gratitude to the Fijian Government for their hospitality and support. She extended thanks to senior officials from across the Pacific for participating in the meeting and wished all participants meaningful discussions and productive outcomes.

The South Pacific Youth Senior Officials Government Meeting will include Permanent Secretaries and CEOs from the South Pacific, along with youth representatives, government officials, and the Chairperson of the Pacific Youth Council.
