Youth Crime Shock: The Alarm Bell Rings for Today’s Students

The Assistant Commissioner of Police, Livai Driu, has stated that the involvement of students in serious crimes is a concerning reality that should not be surprising. During a talk with cadets at Nabala Secondary School, he highlighted that reports of students engaging in serious offenses such as drug use, rape, abduction, and burglary continue to emerge.

Driu noted that many of these cases involve juveniles under the age of 18. He cautioned students that a single poor decision could drastically alter their lives, leading to long-term regrets. He emphasized that no child should face such trauma prematurely and encouraged students to cherish their childhood.

He advised against hastily stepping into adult life, as it brings responsibilities and challenges that may be overwhelming.
