The Caginitoba men’s sevens rugby team has made its third appearance on the island of Vatulele for the Mick’s Fiji Tours & Transfers Vatulele 7s tournament. The tournament began yesterday at the Vatulele District School grounds, featuring 24 teams and culminating today.

In an interview, team manager Navoliyani Draunimasi shared insights about their journey and preparation leading up to this event. With limited training resources, the team was primarily guided by a single trainer from the Yasawa 7s team who resides in the village, focusing on helping the players get ready for the tournament.

Draunimasi emphasized the significance of this competition for the young squad, stating that their experience over the two days would contribute to their understanding and development of rugby skills. As this is only their third tournament, he is optimistic that continued participation will enhance their gameplay in the future.

He also expressed gratitude towards the supporters and families from Yasawa who have provided unwavering support, along with sponsors from overseas and the Momo na Ratu na Tui Naviti.

This young team’s participation stands as a pivotal opportunity for growth and exposure in the sport. Their journey reflects a strong community spirit and highlights the importance of local support in nurturing emerging talent in rugby.

The event encourages hope and development, showing that with the right experiences and support, these young players could pave the way for a bright future in rugby.
