Fifteen-year-old Nehemiah Elder is gearing up for the Commonwealth Weightlifting Championship in Fiji, which is set to take place from September 17 to 21, just three weeks away. With the competition on the horizon, Nehemiah is training diligently and feels confident as he prepares to compete in the 89kg weight category, aiming to represent Fiji on the global stage.
Coming from a lineage of weightlifting champions, Nehemiah follows the path of his father and head coach, Henry Elder, along with his older brothers. Despite his youth, he has already achieved significant recognition, having broken three Oceania records in the 73kg division. As he transitions to a heavier category, Nehemiah is more committed than ever to bring honor to Fiji.
