Police have apprehended and charged two Year 10 students who were allegedly found with drugs last week. Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations Livai Driu confirmed that the discovery occurred at the students’ respective schools.

The two 16-year-olds were reportedly found with sachets of marijuana, with one student attending a school in Suva and the other in Sigatoka. Mr. Driu emphasized that drug offenses are taken very seriously and are considered irreconcilable. He stated, “Anyone found engaging in these acts will be charged. This offense is irreconcilable, and we will take reports seriously. We are stressing the importance of parental support and how it must be strengthened.”

In a separate incident, a 65-year-old woman was charged and appeared in court after being found with methamphetamine and marijuana on September 15. Mr. Driu noted that the drugs were discovered during a raid at her home in Lautoka.
