Swire Shipping Fijian Drua head coach Glen Jackson has expressed his satisfaction with the performance of his substitutes during the recent match against the Waratahs, particularly focusing on the young fly-half Isaiah Armstrong-Ravula. Jackson noted that Ravula, one of the team’s youngest players, made a significant impact in the second half, showcasing excellent kicking skills and a strong understanding of game strategy.
“Izzy is a very good player, very good teen,” Jackson stated. “I thought he came on and made a massive impact in the position we wanted. We aimed to get the ball wider than we had been, and he understood that perfectly, leading to strong plays from our wingers.”
Ravula’s performance has brought him just two points shy of former fly-half Teti Tela on the Drua’s all-time points list, currently standing at 124 points. As the Drua gears up for their match against the Chiefs on March 8 at Churchill Park in Lautoka, fans are excited to see how this young talent continues to develop.
The emergence of young players like Ravula reflects a broader trend in Fijian rugby, highlighting the increasing importance of youth in pivotal roles, which energizes the team’s performance. Jackson’s confidence in his younger players bodes well for the Drua’s future as they seek to gain momentum in the Super Rugby Pacific season.
With the upcoming match, there is a renewed sense of hope that the Drua can capitalize on their depth and youthful energy to secure victories, fostering a positive atmosphere within the Fijian rugby community.
