Maryann Macedru, a dedicated 16-year-old student from Saint Joseph Secondary School, is focused on surpassing her prior achievements in shot put as she prepares for this year’s Coca-Cola Games. During the Suva Zone Two competition, she showcased her talent by clinching the gold medal in the intermediate girls’ shot put event with a commendable throw of 12.80 meters.

Her schoolmates Sinairi Erasito and Nina Mulevoro also secured silver and bronze medals, contributing to a strong performance by the team. Despite her success, Macedru remains determined to exceed her own record and aims to bring home the gold medal for her school in the forthcoming Coca-Cola Games.

Reflecting on her preparation, she acknowledged the challenges but maintained confidence in her ability to achieve outstanding results. “My preparation was challenging, and I could have performed better today, but I’m really going to excel during the Coca-Cola Games,” she stated, expressing her goal of breaking her previous record.

Macedru is not just competing in shot put; she is also set to participate in the discus event, and she is eager to excel in both disciplines. She expressed her gratitude towards her coach, teachers, and parents for their unwavering support as she looks forward to showcasing her skills at the prestigious 2025 Coca-Cola Games.
