Viola Ravutubananitu, a Year Eight student from Tagitagi Sangam Primary School in Tavua, has distinguished herself as the top scorer in the Fiji Eighth Year Examination. The 13-year-old achieved an astounding score of 491 out of 500, attributing her success to the unwavering support of her family and her strong faith in God.

Hailing from Totoya, Lau, and having maternal roots in Tavualevu, Tavua, Viola expressed her heartfelt gratitude for the encouragement she received at home. “Above all, I thank the Almighty,” she remarked, expressing her joy and pride in the results of her hard work. Throughout the year, she committed to her studies, often sacrificing sleep to ensure she was well-prepared for the examination.

Viola dedicated her remarkable achievement to her late grandfather, Aisake Ravutubananitu, and acknowledged the immeasurable support of her grandmother, Ro Vani Ravutubananitu, along with the guidance of her class teacher, Nazeel Ali, and the school staff. Reflecting on her grandfather’s passing, she shared, “When my grandpa passed away, I felt like I lost a part of me because he always supported me.” Nevertheless, she expressed gratitude for divine support throughout her challenges.

As the daughter of a corrections officer and a homemaker, Viola has ambitions of attending Adi Cakobau School (ACS) next year. She aspires to join the school because “it breeds strong and independent women.”

Viola’s dedication and resilience serve as an inspiration not just to her family but also to her school community.

This story highlights the importance of hard work, family support, and resilience in achieving academic excellence. Viola’s journey exemplifies how determination and a strong support system can lead to great success, encouraging other students to pursue their goals with similar dedication.
