Fariza Ali, the top student from Labasa Muslim Primary School, drew inspiration from the renowned physicist Albert Einstein. During the annual prizegiving ceremony held last Thursday, Fariza, who is in Year 8, earned an impressive score of 461 out of 500. Despite her achievements, she has set her sights even higher for the coming year.

With aspirations to become a dentist and to achieve honorary doctorate degrees in science, medicine, and philosophy—following in the footsteps of her idol, Einstein—Fariza is determined to excel. She has already taken a significant step toward her goal by enrolling at Labasa College.

At just 14 years old and a resident of Nanuku St, Labasa, Fariza expresses gratitude for her four siblings who are thriving in their respective careers, including a police officer, a doctor, a clerical officer, and a student at Fiji National University. “Their success has made my parents proud, and I want to contribute by being the first dentist in our family,” Fariza shared.

She also acknowledged her parents, Tajmoon Nisha and Ashmat Ali, for their support. As the youngest of five children, Fariza recognizes the challenges her family faces, particularly since her father is the sole breadwinner, managing Tebara Halal Meats Limited in Labasa. “I’m fortunate to receive what I need, and my parents have always taught me the value of hard work,” she said. “I appreciate having the opportunity to pursue my education and career choices.”

Aiyub Khan, the manager of Labasa Muslim Primary School, indicated that the school has begun its enrollment process for next year and welcomed any students who may not find placement elsewhere.

This inspiring story highlights the power of determination and the importance of family support in achieving one’s dreams. Fariza’s commitment to her education and her ambition to become a dentist serve as a motivational message for young students everywhere, showing that with hard work and the right inspiration, anything is possible.
