Thirteen-year-old Jone Seru from Nukuloa Sanatan Dharam School triumphed in the under-14 boys 1500m final at the Ba Primary School athletics competition, clocking an impressive time of 5 minutes and 19 seconds at Churchill Park yesterday.

His commitment to a rigorous training regimen, including daily 6km road runs in the morning and afternoon, paid off as he took an early lead in the race and maintained his advantage through three and a half laps to finish strong.

Originally from Naitasiri, Seru expressed his gratitude and happiness after winning the gold medal. “I want to thank God for this gold medal. I do road runs every morning and afternoon, and I’m happy that it has paid off,” he said.

His determination and disciplined approach were clearly demonstrated as he confidently set the pace early on, ultimately securing a victorious finish.
