Thirteen-year-old Jone Seru from Nukuloa Sanatan Dharam School emerged victorious in the under-14 boys 1500m final at the Ba Primary School athletics competition, clocking an impressive time of 5 minutes and 19 seconds at Churchill Park yesterday.

His commitment to a rigorous training routine, which includes a 6km road run every morning and afternoon, proved beneficial as he took control of the race from the very beginning, maintaining his lead until the finish after completing three and a half laps.

Coming from Naitasiri, Seru expressed his joy and appreciation for winning the gold medal. “I want to thank God for this gold medal. I do road runs every morning and afternoon, and I’m happy that it has paid off,” he stated.

His perseverance and structured training were clear as he set a confident pace early in the race, securing his win with remarkable ease.
