Breyton Legge, a 20-year-old rugby player, has ambitious goals that he is determined to reach. Recently, he was named to the Swire Shipping Fijian Drua development squad, marking a significant step in his already impressive rugby career. Legge has made a name for himself through his progression from youth levels at Suva Grammar School and Hamilton Boys High School to representing Fiji at various age levels, including the U18 and U20 teams, and participating in the 2023 World Rugby U20 Championship.

Legge attributes his passion for rugby to his father, Mike Legge, a former rugby player and coach. Growing up in a rugby-oriented family, he started playing the sport at a very young age, initially engaging with rugby league before transitioning to rugby union after moving to New Zealand and then to Fiji.

During his time at Suva Grammar School, Legge played for the U17 Deans winning team, and his talents caught the attention of national selectors. Reflecting on his experience at the U20 Championship, he noted the excitement of competing against teams like Australia, England, and Ireland.

His father continues to provide guidance and motivation, reminding him that hard work is essential for achieving his dreams. Currently training with the Drua, Legge is focused on adapting to the higher level of competition in Super Rugby, emphasizing the need to learn quickly.

Legge aims to make his debut in the upcoming 2025 season, ideally in a home match where he hopes to have family, including his grandparents, in attendance. Looking further ahead, he has set his sights on representing the Flying Fijians at the 2027 Rugby World Cup, expressing pride in the opportunity to represent Fiji and give back to his culture.

Recently returning from a pre-season training camp in Kadavu, Legge enjoyed engaging with the local community and emphasized the importance of maintaining his training regime during this break. As he works hard to stay fit, he is ready to seize the opportunities that lie ahead in his rugby career.

In summary, Breyton Legge’s commitment and determination to reach his rugby goals offer an inspiring example for young athletes. His journey reflects not only personal dreams but also a deep connection to his family and culture, underscoring the values of hard work and perseverance in sports.
