A 24-year-old man has been held in custody after being accused of stealing a firearm from the Republic of Fiji Military Forces. The court is scheduled to address his bail application today.
Sitiveni Tavakece appeared in the Nadi Magistrate’s Court yesterday, facing two theft charges and one charge for possession of a firearm without a license.
The allegations state that on September 25, Tavakece unlawfully took a 9mm pistol, valued at $1,500. He is also accused of stealing three souvenir medals from the military forces. Reports indicate that the state plans to add a third charge against him today.
