Nanise Rabonu, the head girl of Vunimono High School, received the esteemed Principal’s Award during the school’s annual prize-giving ceremony at the Nausori Hall. At just 18 years old, Nanise’s path to this recognition was filled with challenges and sacrifices, highlighting her remarkable leadership qualities and resilience.

“Winning the Principal’s Award was unexpected, yet I am truly thankful,” Nanise expressed. She emphasized that true leadership involves understanding the diverse backgrounds of students and adhering to the core values of the school, rather than just taking a position of authority.

Nanise attributes much of her success to her family, particularly her older brother, who received the same award in 2022. “He instilled in me the significance of respect and integrity in leadership,” she noted. Her leadership journey was not without its hurdles, requiring her to make tough decisions that occasionally put a strain on her friendships. “Some choices were difficult to make, but I have no regrets. I owe a debt of gratitude to God and my parents for their steadfast support during trying times,” she stated.

Driven by a passion for empowerment, Nanise is committed to uplifting her peers, especially young girls. “In today’s world, girls are frequently undervalued. I take pride in inspiring everyone to recognize their worth,” she remarked.

As she looks to the future, Nanise aims to become a flight attendant, eager to explore diverse cultures around the globe. Her achievement not only solidifies her legacy at Vunimono High School but also serves as a beacon of inspiration for students across the community.

This story illustrates the essence of resilience and the impact of supportive relationships, reminding us all that with determination and encouragement, individuals can achieve great things. Nanise’s journey is a testament to the powerful role of mentorship and the importance of valuing every individual’s potential.
