Isoa Dakunimata, recently inaugurated as head boy of Marist Brothers High School, is set to lead the prestigious all-boys institution through the upcoming academic year. At just 18 years old, Isoa’s journey began as a Year 9 student in 2021, where he nurtured aspirations of attaining this significant leadership role, now fulfilled with his formal induction at Lambert Hall.

Acknowledging the weight of his responsibilities, Isoa expressed his determination, stating, “It has always been my dream to lead. Being badged as head boy means my silent prayers have been answered. Now, it’s time to work with my fellow students to achieve academic excellence.” His upbringing from Cautata, Bau, Tailevu, has instilled in him values of dignity and respect, crucial traits for effective leadership.

In his vision, education transcends mere academic achievement; he champions the belief that it is a tool for fostering change both within the school environment and beyond. Marist Brothers High School’s principal, Asish Dayal, shared an optimistic outlook for the year, underlining a commitment to ensuring it becomes a “golden year” for the institution. The school aims to uphold not only academic excellence but also holistic development through discipline and sports.

The prefects, inspired by the school’s values and the legacy of its alumni, are dedicated to maintaining high standards. Mr. Dayal emphasized the importance of collaborative efforts among students, teachers, and the broader community, including active parental support and the Ministry of Education, to create an environment where everyone flourishes.

This spirit of optimism and dedication mirrors the uplifting stories of youth leadership emerging across educational institutions in Fiji, where young leaders are making significant impacts within their communities. The induction of Isoa Dakunimata as head boy encapsulates a broader narrative of hope, resilience, and the transformative power of education, promising a bright future for both the school and its students.
