Immanuel Petero Saunivalu, a 13-year-old student, has been appointed as the head boy of Stella Marist Primary School, a position he approaches with enthusiasm and responsibility. Hailing from Namosi Koro and with roots in Nacamaki Village on Koro Island, Immanuel feels honored by this opportunity and is committed to contributing positively to his school community.
In his own words, Immanuel remarked, “It is an honor and a responsibility I will take seriously. I look forward to leading initiatives and upholding our school’s values.” He identifies strong communication, active listening, and a clear vision as essential leadership qualities and is dedicated to setting an example for his peers in pursuit of academic and personal growth.
Immanuel shared a personal goal for the year: “My goal this year is to increase my love for God, so He can guide me in being a blessing to others.” He hopes to inspire his classmates to excel while embracing the core values of Stella Marist, such as family spirit, simplicity, love of work, and presence.
Aware of the challenge of balancing leadership with academic responsibilities, Immanuel plans to stay organized and allocate time for leisure activities, especially rugby, which he enjoys playing with family and friends. He believes that taking breaks is essential and credits his mother, Mere Naulu, for her consistent support throughout his journey.
Mere expressed her pride in Immanuel’s new role, stating, “It is both humbling and gratifying. I have mixed feelings of pride and confidence in his ability to lead.” She recognizes that his leadership potential has shone through from an early age and is dedicated to being his biggest supporter.
With 321 students, Stella Marist Primary School stands to gain significantly from Immanuel’s leadership, as he aims to be a guiding presence for his classmates, sharing in their triumphs and challenges alike.
