The Digicel Fiji Young Kulas faced another challenging defeat in their second game at the FIFA Under-20 Women’s World Cup in Colombia, losing 9-0 to a strong Canadian team. Similar to their opening match against Brazil, the Young Kulas struggled defensively, allowing Canada to score seven goals in the first half. Anabelle Chuckwu netted a hat-trick, while captain Olivia Smith and Kayla Brigs each scored two goals.

Despite the heavy defeats, defender Talei Moodie remains hopeful about the team’s development from these experiences. “As newcomers to this level of competition, we expected to face tough opposition and encounter new challenges,” Moodie commented. “This experience is valuable for us to learn and improve, and I believe it will only motivate us to get better.”

Looking forward to their final pool match against France, Moodie conveyed the team’s commitment to learn from their past performances and demonstrate improvement on the pitch. Fiji is scheduled to play France in their last pool game this Saturday at 10 am.
