Young Kulas Gear Up for World Cup Challenge in Colombia

The Digicel Fiji Young Kulas have arrived in Medellin, Colombia, for the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup. Head coach Angeline Chua and her team were welcomed at the airport by cultural dancers and a vibrant band.

They were escorted to their hotel by police and quickly transitioned into preparations for their upcoming matches, with only three days remaining before their first game. This tournament marks the Young Kulas’ debut on the global stage.

Leading up to the World Cup, the team has participated in several friendly matches, including a recent game against fellow debutants Morocco, where they lost 2-0. They also conducted a ten-day training camp in the United States, where they competed against local teams in Sacramento and San Francisco. Additionally, the team trained for a week in Australia at the Australian Institute of Sports in Canberra, facing local teams such as the Future Matildas.

The Young Kulas will kick off their World Cup journey against Brazil on Sunday at 11 a.m. at Estadio Atanasio Girardot.
