The Digicel Fiji Young Kulas faced another challenging defeat in their second match at the FIFA Under-20 Women’s World Cup in Colombia, losing 9-0 to a strong Canadian team. Similar to their first game against Brazil, the Young Kulas struggled to defend, with Canada scoring seven goals in the first half. Anabelle Chuckwu recorded a hat-trick, while captain Olivia Smith and Kayla Brigs each added two goals.
Despite the heavy losses, defender Talei Moodie remains hopeful about the team’s development from these experiences. “As newcomers to this level of competition, we expected tough opposition and new challenges,” Moodie stated. “This experience is valuable for us to learn and improve, and I believe it will only motivate us to get better.”
Looking ahead to their final pool match against France, Moodie emphasized the team’s determination to learn from their experiences and demonstrate improvement on the field. Fiji will take on France in their last pool game this Saturday at 10 a.m.
