Young Kulas Battle on Despite Tough Losses at FIFA U-20 World Cup

The Digicel Fiji Young Kulas faced another heavy defeat in their second match at the FIFA under-20 Women’s World Cup in Colombia, losing 9-0 to a strong Canadian team. Similar to their first match against Brazil, the Young Kulas struggled defensively, with Canada netting seven goals in the first half. Anabelle Chuckwu scored a hat-trick, while captain Olivia Smith and Kayla Brigs contributed with two goals each.

Despite the significant defeats, defender Talei Moodie remains hopeful about the team’s development through these experiences. “As newcomers to this level of competition, we expected to face tough opposition and encounter new challenges,” Moodie stated. “This experience is valuable for us to learn and improve, and I believe it will only motivate us to get better.”

Looking ahead to their final group match against France, Moodie emphasized the team’s determination to learn from previous games and demonstrate progress on the field. Fiji is scheduled to face France in their last pool game this Saturday at 10 a.m.
