Setareki Turagacoke, an 18-year-old rising star, made a remarkable debut for the FIJI Water Flying Fijians in their recent 33-19 triumph over Spain during the Europe Tour. Hailing from Dakuinuku in Korovou, Tailevu, Turagacoke not only featured in the game but also made it memorable by scoring a try during the team’s comeback.

Turagacoke was summoned to the Flying Fijians squad just a week prior to the match, stepping in to fill the gap left by the injured Temo Mayanavanua. After being included in the reserves, he showcased his talent by making an immediate impact when he entered the game in the second half.

Currently, Turagacoke plays for Stade Français Club in France, where he joined after completing his Year 12 education at Lelean Memorial School in Nausori last year. He has a strong rugby background, having been nurtured by the Eastern Saints Rugby Academy since the age of 14 and previously participating in the FRU HPU Pathway.

With another match against Ireland on the horizon, Turagacoke is poised to gain further experience and playing time, providing a glimpse of a promising future for this young athlete.

This debut reinforces the emerging talent in rugby and highlights how young athletes are given opportunities at higher levels, which can be an inspiration for aspiring rugby players in Fiji and around the world.
