Excitement is palpable among the athletes representing Saint Johns College from Cawaci in Ovalau as they prepare for their first experience at the Fiji Finals. Team Manager Josiah Diani highlighted that out of the 33-member team, most athletes come from the sub-junior category, emphasizing the school’s commitment to nurturing young talent in athletics.
The team arrived in Suva earlier today and completed their final training session at the HFC Bank Stadium, gearing up for the highly anticipated Coca-Cola Games, which will commence tomorrow. Diani expressed the team’s enthusiasm, stating, “The team has been very hyped up for the three-day event. They’ve been looking forward to this competition since the first day of training, and we hope everything turns out well.”
This year’s Fiji Finals promise to be competitive, with a significant turnout expected, as over 1,000 athletes from various schools will showcase their skills on this platform. Live coverage will be available on FBC TV, allowing fans to engage with the event remotely. The atmosphere is set to celebrate not only athletic prowess but also community spirit as schools rally behind their athletes.
Looking at similar enthusiasm echoed by other schools, such as Adi Maopa Secondary and Vunisea Secondary, it’s clear that the event serves as a culmination of hard work and dedication from young athletes across Fiji. Their stories reflect resilience and camaraderie, fostering a sense of unity in the pursuit of excellence in athletics.
As the Fiji Finals draw near, there is an optimistic outlook for the event, presenting a unique opportunity for young athletes to shine, inspire others, and contribute to the vibrant athletic culture in Fiji. With the ongoing support from schools and communities, the future of athletics looks bright, promising a continued journey for these aspiring sports stars.
