Non-essential government offices will be temporarily closed from December 29 to January 2, as confirmed by Pita Tagicakirewa, the Permanent Secretary for the Civil Service. This decision, approved by the Public Service Commission, aims to allow civil servants some well-deserved time off to celebrate the Christmas and New Year festivities with their families and loved ones.

In light of this closure, members of the public are encouraged to access necessary government services prior to the shutdown. Tagicakirewa emphasized that this period provides a valuable chance for civil servants to rest and rejuvenate during the holiday season.

It is important to note that essential services will remain operational during this time. Additionally, Permanent Secretaries across various ministries will assess their staffing needs to ensure that critical functions are maintained throughout the closure. This approach ensures that while many are taking a break, essential services continue to be available for those in need.
