The Ministry of Education has reported a decline in the pass rate for the Fiji Year 13 Certificate Examination (FY13CE), with this year’s rate at 86 percent compared to 91 percent in 2023. Despite the drop, Minister for Education Aseri Radrodro commended several schools for their notable improvements.

Among the high achievers, Adi Cakobau School saw its pass rate rise from 97 percent to 98 percent, while Vunisea Secondary jumped from 83 percent to 97 percent. Furthermore, a total of ten secondary schools recorded a perfect 100 percent pass rate, including Nadarivatu Secondary, Nilsen High, and others.

Minister Radrodro encouraged students applying for scholarships and loans through the Tertiary Scholarships and Loans Service (TSLS) to upload their results to their accounts. He emphasized the importance of open communication between parents and children regarding their academic results, highlighting the need for support as students navigate their future educational and career paths.

He extended gratitude to teachers, students, and parents for their dedication, which is reflected in the examination outcomes. Mr. Radrodro urged students continuing their studies to maintain focus on their academic goals and perform to the best of their abilities. Additionally, for those wishing to request a recount or remark on their results, applications can be submitted at the Examinations and Assessment Office. A 30-day provisional period has been set for these requests.

In summary, while this year’s pass rate has seen a decrease, the dedication of the schools that improved their performance remains a hopeful sign for the future of education in Fiji. The collective effort from teachers, students, and families is essential for fostering a supportive learning environment that encourages all students to thrive.
