Yat Sen Secondary School Claims Victory in Thrilling Netball Showdown!

Yat Sen Secondary School’s men’s open grade team successfully defended its title in the Crest Chicken Fiji Secondary Schools Netball competition last Friday, defeating Swami Vivekananda College with a score of 16-12 in a tightly contested match.

Head coach Sikeli Tuwai expressed his pride in the players’ performance throughout the competition, noting the dedication displayed by both returning and new team members. The team’s success was aided by the integration of basketball strategies into their netball gameplay.

“I’m very proud of the players’ performance at this year’s competition; the commitment of the new players is great to see,” Tuwai stated. “The inclusion of basketball players in the team was highly beneficial, as they brought new ideas to netball, enhancing our overall performance.”

Despite challenges such as conflicts with basketball training schedules, the team maintained its focus and determination to defend their championship title. Tuwai acknowledged the vital support from teachers and parents, highlighting teamwork as a key factor in reclaiming the title.

With the netball competition now complete, Yat Sen Secondary School shifts its attention to the upcoming 2024 Vodafone Fiji Secondary Schools Basketball Championship in Lautoka, set to take place from tomorrow until Friday. As the defending basketball champions, the team is eager to demonstrate their skills and determination in the tournament.
