Yasawa Saints Stage Stunning Comeback to Reach FNRLW Finals

Yasawa Saints staged a remarkable comeback to defeat the favored Lami Steelers 28-14 in the semi-finals of the FNRLW (Fiji National Rugby League Women) Championship held at Ratu Cakobau Park in Nausori on Saturday.

Saints captain Sereana Nasau expressed her understanding of the tough challenge ahead but highlighted their determination to win and reach the final. Overcome with emotion, the former Fiji Pearls netballer was moved to tears at the conclusion of the match.

“Credit goes to the players and the supporters who showed up in great numbers,” Nasau acknowledged. “We anticipated a challenging second half, but we had to fight back.”

She emphasized that the journey is not over, as they are now just one step away from making history. “This will be my first time playing in a rugby league final, and I’m looking forward to a memorable experience,” Nasau added.

While pleased with their victory, she also recognized the need for improvement in certain areas. “We will celebrate this win today, but we have aspects to work on as we prepare for the final.”

The Yasawa Saints were relentless in both defense and attack throughout the match. “This win belongs to everyone who has supported us on this journey. Our success is a result of the hard work, commitment, and faith of our entire team and our loyal fans,” she stated.

Looking ahead, the Saints are set to clash with the Police Sharks in the championship final.
