Yasawa Saints Shock Lami Steelers in Thrilling Semi-Final Upset!

Yasawa Saints staged a remarkable comeback to defeat the favored Lami Steelers 28-14 in the semi-finals of the FNRLW (Fiji National Rugby League Women) Championship, held at Ratu Cakobau Park in Nausori on Saturday.

Saints captain Sereana Nasau acknowledged the challenges of the match but expressed confidence in their goal to reach the final. Overwhelmed with emotion at the final whistle, Nasau stated, “Credit to the players and supporters who came out in numbers. We knew it was going to be tough to play catch-up rugby in the second half, but we had to.”

She emphasized that the team’s journey is not over and they are now just one step away from making history. This will be Nasau’s first experience in a rugby league final, a moment she is looking forward to. “It will be a moment to remember,” she added.

While celebrating their victory, Nasau noted that improvements are still needed. “There are some key areas in which we will have to work on. But we will savor this win today and go back and prepare for the final,” she said.

The Yasawa Saints displayed strong defense and offensive strategies throughout the match. Nasau dedicated the victory to all their supporters, emphasizing that the success stemmed from the hard work, dedication, and belief of the entire team and their loyal fans.

Next, the Saints will face the Police Sharks in the championship final.
