Yasawa Saints Shock Lami Steelers: A Historic Victory in FNRLW Semi-finals!

The Yasawa Saints rallied to overcome the favored Lami Steelers with a score of 28-14 in the semi-finals of the FNRLW (Fiji National Rugby League Women) Championship held at Ratu Cakobau Park in Nausori on Saturday.

Saints captain Sereana Nasau acknowledged the challenging nature of the match but emphasized their goal of reaching the final. Overcome with emotion, she couldn’t hold back tears as the match concluded.

“Credit goes to the players and supporters who came out in large numbers,” Nasau stated. “We anticipated that it would be difficult to play catch-up rugby in the second half, but we met that challenge.”

Nasau expressed her excitement about the team’s historic opportunity as they are now one step away from making history. “This will be my first rugby league final, and it’s a moment I won’t forget,” she shared.

While the team celebrated their victory, she pointed out the need for continued improvement. “There are key areas we need to focus on, but we’ll enjoy this win today and prepare for the final.”

The Yasawa Saints demonstrated a strong performance in both defense and attack throughout the match. “This victory is dedicated to everyone who has supported us along the way. It wouldn’t have been possible without the hard work, dedication, and belief of our entire team and loyal fans,” she added.

The Saints will go up against the Police Sharks in the upcoming FNRLW Championship final.
