The WOWS Kids Foundation held a successful Christmas Gala fundraising event on Saturday, raising an impressive $28,000. This money will significantly aid the foundation’s ongoing mission to provide crucial resources and support to children battling cancer in Fiji.
During the gala, founding director Sina Kami expressed her heartfelt gratitude to all attendees and contributors. She emphasized that every donation, regardless of size, plays a vital role in making a difference in these children’s lives. Reflecting on the foundation’s 17-year journey, Ms. Kami shared both the joys and challenges faced over the years, poignantly noting the loss of a girl and a daughter while celebrating the many lives they have positively impacted.
Ms. Kami highlighted that the foundation’s achievements stem not just from its founders but also from a dedicated team, including team leaders and board members, who collectively work tirelessly for the benefit of the children they serve. “We are the eyes, hands, legs, and heart that beats for our children,” she said.
A key point of discussion at the event was the need for improved facilities at their resource center, which is currently too small to host larger events like family fun days. Because of this, the foundation is seeking support from the government for a larger piece of land to build a more suitable resource center for Fiji’s children.
The WOWS Kids Foundation’s efforts to raise funds and improve facilities represent a hopeful commitment to making a lasting difference in the lives of children facing cancer. With community support and ongoing initiatives, there is a bright future ahead for these vulnerable families.
