The Women’s T20 World Cup final is set to take place at the iconic Lord’s Cricket Ground in London on July 5, 2026, as confirmed by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB). This event marks a significant milestone as it will be the largest women’s cricket tournament ever held in England and Wales, featuring an expanded lineup of 12 teams.

The tournament is scheduled to begin on June 12, 2026, with 33 matches taking place over 24 days, showcasing some of the best talent in women’s cricket. Along with Lord’s, other venues include Old Trafford, Headingley, Edgbaston, Hampshire Bowl, The Oval, and Bristol County Ground. ECB Chief Executive Richard Gould expressed his excitement, highlighting Lord’s as a dream venue for cricketers: “It is one of the finest venues in world cricket… and an opportunity to take the game to more people than ever before.”

International Cricket Council (ICC) chair Jay Shah echoed these sentiments, recalling the successful 2017 Women’s Cricket World Cup final at Lord’s, which was a defining moment for women’s cricket. Shah stated that the upcoming tournament promises thrilling T20 action and is pivotal as cricket prepares for its return to the Olympic stage in Los Angeles in 2028.

Currently, eight countries have already qualified for the tournament, while the remaining four teams will be determined through next year’s qualifying events. This expansion and emphasis on women’s cricket are sure to inspire a new generation of players and fans.

The enthusiasm surrounding this tournament reflects the increasing recognition and growth of women’s sports globally. With the focus on fair play and competitive spirit, this World Cup is poised to elevate women’s cricket even further, solidifying its place on the world stage.

As the cricket community eagerly anticipates this monumental event, it is an excellent time to recognize the progress and potential of women’s sports, inviting more viewers and participants in the years to come.
