Nadi Sports and Social Club proudly clinched the title in the first-ever Ladies Business House Bowls Competition last week. The victorious team, composed of Tascheen Stuart, Raijieli Jamieson, Anita Devi, Laisani Sinu, and Shami Devi, triumphed over Lautoka Wonder Women with a close score of 16-13 in the final match.
The Lautoka Wonder Women team included Bikashni Dass, Dinusha Chandima, Pritika Singh, and Ms. Low. Club secretary Shamal Kumar expressed pride in the event, highlighting it as a significant achievement for women’s bowling in the Nadi region.
“Congratulations to the Nadi Sports Club team for their hard-fought victory in the Cup Final and a big shout out to all teams for their amazing efforts and sportsmanship throughout the competition,” Kumar remarked. The competition not only showcased competitive spirit but also established a pathway for women in bowling; the winners are set to join the NSSC to form a dedicated women’s team.
Kumar extended his gratitude to all the participants, supporters, and organizers for contributing to the event’s success.
In other results from the competition, the Plate Final saw Alligators dominate Fiji Airways with a score of 32-4, Zens Wonder Women won the Bowl Final against Centrecom 16-9, and in the Shield Final, Tourism Fiji defeated Wormald Security 18-8.
This competition marks a promising step forward for women’s sports, demonstrating an increasing engagement and enthusiasm in bowls among female athletes. The establishment of a dedicated women’s team is a hopeful sign of growth and empowerment in the sport.
