Over 70 women leaders from various sectors participated in a Women in Corporate Leadership breakfast on Thursday, where they had the opportunity to meet Antonia Watson, the chief executive officer of ANZ New Zealand.
The event was organized by the consultancy firm SALT Incorporated Limited based in Suva, featuring the theme “Evolution of Leaders.” Ms. Watson’s address highlighted the significance of maintaining clear values to navigate challenging situations as leaders.
“It was wonderful to have Antonia with us,” remarked SALT Inc principal Ana Laqeretabua. “We appreciate her insights and wisdom which are valuable tools for us as we face various challenges as women leaders.”
Ms. Watson encouraged attendees to embrace authenticity, stating that being relatable and genuine enhances leadership effectiveness.
Rabih Yazbek, ANZ Fiji’s country head, emphasized that bringing senior executives to Fiji is part of ANZ’s commitment to the community. He noted, “As a global network, we have the unique ability to inspire and support aspiring business leaders in Fiji through visits from executives like Antonia.”
He added that the visit is crucial for strengthening the bond between ANZ Fiji and New Zealand. “Antonia’s engagement with our customers, regulators, and stakeholders underscores ANZ’s significant role in the Pacific region,” he said, highlighting that Fiji is a vital component of ANZ’s international network.
Ms. Watson arrived in Suva on Wednesday after spending two days in Apia, Samoa.
