A Chinese national who performed an illegal and fatal breast augmentation surgery in Sydney will spend at least another two-and-a-half years in prison. Jie Shao was convicted of manslaughter earlier this year after a Sydney jury found she had unlawfully injected a woman with a lethal dosage of anesthetic.

The victim, Jean Huang, 35, died in September 2017 following a procedure that involved hyaluronic acid being injected into her breasts as filler. Shao’s actions have led to a manslaughter conviction, highlighting the dangers of unregulated cosmetic procedures.
