The Fiji Rugby Union is set to announce whether Osea Kolinisau will continue as the coach of the Fiji 7s men’s team. The interim chairman, Peter Mazey, stated that they would release details following a meeting with Kolinisau, who was expected to return to Fiji yesterday.

The coach, who led the team to a silver medal at the 2024 Olympic Games, expressed a willingness to remain in his role after the upcoming Paris Olympics. The FRU is pleased with Kolinisau’s interest and is awaiting his final decision.

After engaging in discussions with the FRU last month, Kolinisau went back to the United States to confer with his wife about the future. Meanwhile, preparations are underway for the Fiji 7s squad, which is anticipated to enter camp soon in anticipation of the new series season commencing in November.

Mazey confirmed, “The men will be going into camp shortly,” adding that player selection will take place to assess fitness levels upon their return.

The interim chairman is urging players to maintain their fitness during the break. He advised the 7s team to stay active and avoid indulging excessively while away from the sport.

The first leg of the 2025 HSBC 7s series is scheduled for November 30 to December 1 in Dubai.
