Law enforcement officials are urging parents to educate their children about the dangers and legal ramifications of splashing water on moving vehicles. This appeal arises from growing concerns among motorists, particularly following a recently circulated video on social media showcasing an incident involving a bus driver.

Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations (ACPO) Livai Driu emphasized that such behavior can lead to severe accidents, potentially causing injuries or fatalities. He stated, “Please celebrate responsibly and don’t throw water on moving vehicles,” underscoring the need for caution during festive periods.

ACPO Driu noted that individuals engaging in this reckless behavior could face legal consequences under Section 15 of the Minor Offences Act of 1971, as well as the Negligent Acts Causing Harm under Section 269 of the Crimes Act of 2009. Depending on the severity of injuries incurred, such actions could even escalate to charges of murder.

Recognizing that children might not fully understand the serious repercussions of their actions, he stressed the responsibility of parents to inform their kids. He also called on adults within communities to intervene and discourage such unsafe behavior among younger individuals.

The police will be actively monitoring these incidents to ensure public safety, reinforcing the message of community vigilance and support for one another.

In light of this situation, it’s crucial for families to engage in open conversations about safety and the implications of seemingly harmless actions. By fostering awareness, families can contribute to a safer environment for both drivers and pedestrians during festive celebrations.
