Westpac Bank is taking significant steps to enhance its engagement with the Pacific region through consistent visits by senior leaders from its Australian headquarters. Earlier this month, Emma Low, the Managing Director of Westpac Pacific, traveled to Fiji to connect with staff and customers.

Shane Smith, CEO of Westpac Fiji, highlighted that Low’s visit underscores the bank’s commitment to empowering women in the workplace while focusing on delivering innovative solutions to customers throughout Fiji and the broader Pacific area. During her stay, Ms. Low met with members of the Women of Westpac (WoW) Fiji in Namaka, Nadi. This group, an extension of WoW Australia, serves as one of Westpac’s prominent employee advocacy networks aimed at motivating and supporting women within the bank, helping them unlock their full potential.

Ms. Low engaged with approximately 40 women employees, discussing crucial topics such as mentorship, work-life balance, personal well-being, and various career development opportunities. She emphasized her dedication to fostering female leadership within the organization in the Pacific.

Additionally, Ms. Low visited Westpac’s historic Levuka Branch, established in 1909, where she expressed her admiration for the small team of four staff members who have built strong relationships with the local community. She praised their commitment to excellent customer service, which has become a cornerstone of the bank’s ethos.

This initiative reflects Westpac’s ongoing commitment to not only strengthen its presence in the Pacific but also to uplift local communities by focusing on employee engagement and gender equality.

In summary, Westpac Bank’s efforts in the Pacific region highlight a positive trend of nurturing leadership among women and fostering strong community ties, indicating a promising future for both the bank and the people it serves. This commitment to social responsibility and empowerment could lead to lasting benefits for the region and enhance economic growth.
