Westpac Fiji employees, along with Rotarians from various regions, came together last Saturday to distribute over 300 hampers to families in need in celebration of the upcoming Diwali Festival of Light. Since 2020, Westpac has been collaborating with Rotary to identify and assist families that require support during this significant festive period.

Shane Smith, CEO of Westpac Fiji, emphasized the importance of community and generosity, stating that the initiative aims to ensure that as many families as possible can enjoy the festivities. The bank has consistently funded these Diwali hampers each year, working hand-in-hand with the Rotary Clubs to manage their distribution.

This year, the Rotary Club of Suva Peninsula Sunset spearheaded the efforts, effectively mobilizing resources across Rotary Fiji’s network to reach families nationwide. The 300 prepared hampers were delivered to various locations including Suva, Lautoka, Nadi, and Labasa, containing essential food items and grocery supplies to enhance the Diwali experience for the recipients.

Neelam Sharma, President of the Rotary Club of Suva Peninsula Sunset, shared that the hampers brought joy and relief to the recipients at a crucial time, just as preparations for Diwali sweets begin. She expressed gratitude towards Westpac for their generous support, highlighting the emotional impact of the assistance provided.

This commendable initiative showcases the power of collaboration and community spirit, showcasing how organizations can come together to uplift those in need during festive times.

In summary, this partnership not only aids families in celebrating Diwali but also fosters a sense of unity and support across Fiji. Such efforts are a reminder of the positive difference that can be made when communities rally together for a common cause.
