Western Teams Conquer Challenges at Fiji Police Football Tournament

The Fiji Police Inter District Football tournament concluded today, featuring two teams from the Western Division competing against other policing districts. Mohammed Harif, the president of the Western Division teams 1 and 2, emphasized their goal of winning the tournament and bringing the trophy back to the West.

Last year, the team finished as runners-up in Labasa, but this year, they came with a clear plan and included a mix of district representatives from Ba, Tabua, Nandi, and Lautoka. Harif mentioned the challenges of balancing training with their demanding work schedules as members of the security forces.

He noted, “With our responsibilities, we had to prioritize work first. Unlike the teams from the Southern, Northern, and Central Divisions who have been training for over a month, we only began our training camp about eight days ago.”

As both teams progressed into the second day of competition, Team 2 secured a 2-0 victory against HQ, while Team 1 triumphed over the Eastern team with a score of 3-0. Despite their successes, Harif acknowledged the tough competition they would face ahead, with many teams also fielding district representatives and aiming for victory in the tournament.
