Two Western schools have advanced to the under-18 semi-finals of the Vodafone Super Deans competition. Cuvu College and Ratu Navula College impressed their supporters with strong performances in Suva.
Cuvu College delivered a thrilling upset by narrowly defeating the favored Ratu Kadavulevu School with a score of 23-22. Meanwhile, Ratu Navula mounted a comeback in the second half, overcoming Mahatma Gandhi Memorial High School with a final score of 16-10, thus ending their impressive run in the tournament.
Nasinu Secondary School was the first team to secure a spot in the semi-finals after a close victory over Tailevu North College, finishing the match 17-13. Defending champions Queen Victoria School faced a tough challenge from Marist Brothers High School in the last quarter-final, yet managed to prevail. After a strong start that saw them score 13 points, QVS held off Marist, who only managed six points through Saiasi Fuli, ensuring their advancement.
The semi-finals are set, with Nasinu Secondary School facing Cuvu College, and Queen Victoria School going up against Ratu Navula College. These matches will take place in Suva next Saturday.
