Western Force Signs Wallaroos Star Sera Naiqama: What’s Next?

The Western Force have made a significant addition to their squad by signing Sera Naiqama, a four-time Super Rugby Women’s champion and a lock for the Wallaroos, from the NSW Waratahs.

At 29 years old, Naiqama participated in last year’s Women’s Rugby World Cup and has played in three out of four matches with the Wallaroos. She is also aiming for a spot on Australia’s team for the upcoming World Cup, which will take place on home turf next year.

Since her debut against Japan in May 2022, Naiqama has earned 13 caps for the Wallaroos. She has spent six seasons with the NSW Waratahs in Super W, making 26 appearances and scoring twice, including a try on her debut against the ACT Brumbies in 2019.

Naiqama played a crucial role in the Waratahs’ success, contributing to four Super W titles, the latest being in 2024 when they defeated the Fijiana Drua 50-14 in the Grand Final.

In recent weeks, she has been active on the field, playing for Sydney University in the NSW Jack Scott Cup premiership, competing with the Barbarians in Cape Town, and representing Australia A in a match against Samoa two weeks ago.

Naiqama shared her enthusiasm about joining the Force, who reached the Super W finals for the first time in 2024. She is eager to assist the team in their continued growth while pursuing her goal of participating in the 2025 Women’s World Cup.

She has signed on for the 2025 Super W season and is set to travel to Perth this Sunday to join the team for pre-season training ahead of their tour in Japan scheduled for October and November.
