Western Force Makes Waves with Major Signing of Wallaroos Star Sera Naiqama

The Western Force have made a significant addition to their roster by signing four-time Super Rugby Women’s champion and Wallaroos lock Sera Naiqama from the NSW Waratahs.

The 29-year-old athlete participated in last year’s Women’s Rugby World Cup and has played in three of the Wallaroos’ four matches to date. She is also focused on being part of Australia’s squad for the next World Cup, which will take place in Australia in 2025.

Naiqama has earned 13 caps for the Wallaroos since her first appearance against Japan in May 2022. Throughout her six seasons with the NSW Waratahs in Super W, she made 26 appearances and scored two tries, including one on her debut against the ACT Brumbies in 2019.

She played a pivotal role in the Waratahs’ success, contributing to their four Super W titles, with the latest victory occurring in 2024 when they triumphed over the Fijiana Drua 50-14 in the Grand Final.

Recently, Naiqama has kept herself active on the field by playing for Sydney University in the NSW Jack Scott Cup premiership, participating in matches for the Barbarians in Cape Town, and representing Australia A against Samoa two weeks ago.

Naiqama shared her enthusiasm for joining the Western Force, especially after the team reached the Super W finals for the first time in 2024. She looks forward to contributing to the team’s growth while also aiming for a spot in the 2025 Women’s World Cup squad.

She has committed to the 2025 Super W season and will travel to Perth this Sunday to commence pre-season training with the team ahead of their tour to Japan in October and November.
