Western Force Makes Waves with Major Signing of Wallaroos Star Sera Naiqama

The Western Force has secured a significant acquisition by signing Sera Naiqama, a four-time Super Rugby Women’s champion and lock for the Wallaroos, from the NSW Waratahs. The 29-year-old athlete participated in last year’s Women’s Rugby World Cup and has played in three of the Wallaroos’ four matches.

Naiqama aims to be selected for Australia’s squad in the upcoming World Cup, which will take place in Australia next year. Since her debut against Japan in May 2022, she has earned 13 caps for the Wallaroos.

Over six seasons with the NSW Waratahs in Super W, Naiqama made 26 appearances and scored two tries, including one in her debut match against the ACT Brumbies in 2019. She played an integral role in leading the Waratahs to four Super W titles, the latest being in 2024 when they triumphed over the Fijiana Drua with a score of 50-14 in the Grand Final.

Recently, Naiqama has been actively competing on the field, representing Sydney University in the NSW Jack Scott Cup premiership, playing for the Barbarians in Cape Town, and participating with Australia A against Samoa two weeks prior.

Expressing her enthusiasm about joining the Force, who reached the Super W finals for the first time in 2024, she looks forward to contributing to the team’s continuing development while also striving for a place in the 2025 Women’s World Cup. Naiqama has signed on for the 2025 Super W season and plans to travel to Perth this Sunday to commence pre-season training ahead of their tour to Japan in October and November.
