The Western Force has made a significant acquisition by signing Sera Naiqama, a four-time Super Rugby Women’s champion and lock for the Wallaroos, from the NSW Waratahs.
At 29 years old, Naiqama played in the Women’s Rugby World Cup last year and participated in three of the Wallaroos’ four matches. She is also aspiring to be part of Australia’s squad for the upcoming World Cup scheduled to be held on home soil next year.
Since making her debut against Japan in May 2022, Naiqama has earned 13 caps for the Wallaroos. She brings with her six seasons of experience from the NSW Waratahs in Super W, where she made 26 appearances and scored two tries, including one on her debut against the ACT Brumbies in 2019.
Naiqama was instrumental in leading the Waratahs to four Super W titles, with her latest championship occurring in 2024 when they triumphed over Fijiana Drua with a score of 50-14 in the Grand Final.
Most recently, she has been active on the pitch, competing for Sydney University in the NSW Jack Scott Cup premiership, playing for the Barbarians in Cape Town, and representing Australia A against Samoa two weeks ago.
Naiqama shared her enthusiasm about joining the Western Force, who reached the Super W finals for the first time in 2024. She is eager to contribute to the team’s growth while continuing to pursue her goal of making the 2025 Women’s World Cup squad.
She has officially signed for the 2025 Super W season and will travel to Perth this Sunday to begin pre-season training in preparation for their tour of Japan in October and November.
