The Western Division police are intensifying their crime-fighting efforts by fostering community involvement in policing initiatives. The Divisional Crime Prevention Committee met recently to devise strategies aimed at engaging local volunteers to help create safer neighborhoods.
Senior Superintendent of Police Iakobo Vaisewa, the Divisional Police Commander for the Western Division, commended the committee’s commitment and the wide range of expertise its members bring. “It’s inspiring to see volunteers from diverse backgrounds — including retired civil servants, religious leaders, and community advocates — dedicating their passion and commitment to this important cause,” said SSP Vaisewa.
One of the committee’s initial priorities is to update community data, which is essential for the Western Division’s community policing unit. “Accurate data allows us to pinpoint areas that need urgent attention, plan targeted awareness campaigns, and respond effectively to criminal activities,” Vaisewa emphasized.
By combining community insights with law enforcement strategies, the Western Division police are poised to foster a proactive approach to crime prevention, aiming to enhance safety and security for all residents in the region. This collaborative effort underscores the value of community engagement in building safer environments and reinforces the critical role that residents play in partnership with police forces.
