Weightlifting Fiji Shines Bright at 2024 Sports Awards

Weightlifting Fiji celebrated a remarkable evening at the 2024 Fiji Sports Awards held at the Vodafone Arena in Suva, claiming four esteemed awards. Miriama Taletawa distinguished herself by being named Sportswoman of the Year for the second straight year, underscoring her stellar performances in local competitions and her recent success at the Oceania Weightlifting Championships in New Zealand, where she secured both a bronze and a silver medal.

Taletawa’s accolades also include a silver medal in the 76kg category from last year’s Commonwealth Weightlifting Championships held in Suva, showcasing her consistent excellence in the sport. Additionally, the young talents Mereia Turaganivalu and Nehemiah Elder received recognition as the Young Female and Male Athlete of the Year, respectively, highlighting Weightlifting Fiji’s commitment to fostering emerging athletes.
