Members of the Weightlifting Fiji squad are poised to resume their training with determination, taking only a single day off before starting preparations for the 2026 season. Coach Henry Elder has outlined the team’s commitment, stating they will conduct their final training session of the year on December 31, before kicking off the new training regimen on January 2.
Elder emphasized that the athletes have established clear objectives for the upcoming season and are dedicated to reaching these goals. With a busy competition schedule ahead, which includes prestigious events like the World Championships, Oceania Championships, and Commonwealth Games, the coach highlighted the importance of being well-prepared.
Elder expressed optimism about the team’s growth, noting, “Well people keep on coming, and we don’t turn them down. So we’ve had quite a few people join and we are very excited about the performances today, and I can say that from here on we will continue to rise and perform.” He also encouraged more individuals to consider joining the sport, welcoming new athletes into the national training squad.
As the team gears up for a challenging yet promising season, their proactive approach and strong commitment signal an encouraging path ahead for Weightlifting Fiji. With fresh talent joining the ranks, the potential for success in the international arena looks bright.
