Weightlifting Fiji shined at the 2024 Fiji Sports Awards, securing four prestigious awards at the Vodafone Arena in Suva last night. Miriama Taletawa continued her success by winning the Sportswoman of the Year award for the second consecutive year, a testament to her exceptional performance in local competitions and her recent achievements at the Oceania Weightlifting Championships in New Zealand, where she earned both a bronze and a silver medal.

Talewata’s impressive track record also includes a silver medal in the 76kg category from the previous year’s Commonwealth Weightlifting Championships held in Suva. Additionally, young athletes Mereia Turaganivalu and Nehemiah Elder were honored with the Young Female and Male Athlete of the Year awards, respectively.
